Ethics and safety

Consent

• I only send Reiki to the person who asked for it.
• In a relationship session, Reiki goes to you and your side of the relationship. I don't send Reiki to the other person.
• In family work, Reiki goes to what you carry, not to your relatives.
• I don't send Reiki to change what another person feels, believes, or does.
• I'll text you when I begin, so you know your session has started.
• You can pause, stop, or cancel at any time, including during a session. Just text me "stop." You don't need to give a reason.
• Sessions are for adults, 18 and older.

Animals

• I only send Reiki to an animal when their caregiver asks for it.
• Your animal gets a say too. I offer Reiki and never force it. If your animal seems upset or can't settle, text me "stop."
• Reiki isn't veterinary care, and it doesn't replace it. I don't diagnose or give advice about your animal's health.

Objects, homes, and events

• I send Reiki to objects that are yours, or that you have the owner's OK to bring.
• I send Reiki to homes and spaces you live in or are responsible for. For a shared space, I need the OK of whoever is in charge of it.
• Reiki goes to the space itself, never into the people who live or work there.
• For something coming up, Reiki goes to you and how you'll meet it. I don't send Reiki to change other people's decisions or to fix how things turn out.
• You don't need to share an address. A few words, or a photo if you'd like, is enough.

What you share

• You don't need to tell me what happened. A few words is enough.
• What you share stays between us. I won't share it, post it, or use it as an example without your written permission.
• I keep only what I need to schedule and text you. I delete session notes after 30 days.
• The paper with your focus on it will be burned either by the candle during the session or by myself after the session.

Your candle video

• Your candle video is only for you. I never post client sessions on Instagram or anywhere else.
• It's sent as a private link that stays up for 30 days.
• The candles I share publicly are lit for my own practice or for a general situation, never for a client.

What Reiki is, and isn't

• Reiki is a gentle relaxation practice. It isn't medical or mental health care, and it doesn't replace either one.
• I don't diagnose, interpret, or tell you what something means. After a session I share only what I noticed, in plain words.
• I don't set out to connect with ancestors or guides, and I don't promise it. If something comes up that feels like it's from beyond me, I'll share it only if you've said you'd like me to.
• I won't promise results, and I won't tell you that you need more sessions.
• If you have a therapist, I'm glad. Reiki can sit alongside that work.

Families

I don't assume anything about your family. Some people don't know their family history, aren't close to their family, or were hurt by them. All of that is welcome here, and you don't have to explain.

Clarity

• I'm a Level 2 Reiki practitioner; I have not yet trained to be a Reiki Master.
• Prices are posted and the same for everyone. 
• I don't share the Reiki symbols, out of respect for the teachings and my teacher.
• I try to be careful about practices that aren't mine to borrow, and I name where my training comes from.

Sending Reiki to situations

• When I send Reiki to a situation, I send it to the situation, not to specific people. It's there for anyone who wants it.
• I don't use real people's stories, names, or images from the news.
• When I post about something causing real harm, I try to point to people doing concrete work on it.
